Coronavirus is not a hoax, the legitimate media is not sensationalizing it, any statistics about the regular flu are irrelevant, and it is neither Christian nor conservative to spread misinformation about such a grave threat to human life and civilization.
As social distancing efforts progress from closing sporting events, amusement parks, and other large gatherings to schools and businesses to shutting down all but the most essential movements, people inclined to believe it’s an overreaction to something that’s really not that big of a deal need to consider where they are getting their information, and where the people who are making those momentous decisions are getting theirs.
Are the people who run the schools, the people who run Disney, the people who run the major sports leagues, the people who run major businesses and institutions all over the world – are they closing things down because they are badly misinformed? Are all of these titans of society tricked that easily mislead by a headline? Have they been snookered?
Is that perpetually angry guy on Facebook the one who is right? Or the nice church lady with so much common sense? Do they know something the most well-informed people on earth don’t? Is The Coronavirus not a big deal? If not a hoax? Are all these closings the fault of a sensationalist media? An over-reaction by the chumps who run things?
Those are the kinds of questions those of us who are not academics or experts have to ask ourselves. And the only way to get answers is to go to the most reliable sources.
